Nightwalk

The adventurers paused at the marking stone, the glow from M'leaya's staff mixing with the moonlight. The elf scanned the way ahead, her eyes old friends to light and shadow. M'leaya enjoyed the calmness of the forest, but also smiled with partial amusement at her friend. Brithis was probably the most dangerous warrior within a league of here, but she was a human and though sharper than most, her eyes could be fooled in the dark. Like a deer, she scanned the trees warily, the blades sheathed on her back adding weight to her shoulders like the hands of a reassuring friend.

Third of their group, Malfox, stood as stoic and serenely as ever. A lifelong friend of M'leaya and a powerful ally of Brithis, the hulking troll enjoyed these little walks. He moved in silence to the side get a better view of the rising moon through the trees. Of the three he was most at home here. In the forest he could move with more stealth than the most graceful elf, and if he wished not to be seen, even the barest sapling could hide him. Malfox smiled at his companions as the three of them moved deeper into the forest. He was glad they could join him from time to time on these little walks. It made him happy.
