Sleeper

To disobey the elders was dangerous. They ruled the clan and they dispensed the Law. To anger them was to anger the gods. They were the chosen ones. They were the dream of the Sleepers... the old gods. The First Elders were the Awakened and their bloodlines have ruled for as long as any could remember. But now the elders had become cruel and corrupt. The old teachings were being forgotten and the elders were beginning to think themselves the gods they represent.....

Among the people there were whispers of legends. Birds of fire and steel made by the gods and bringing their people to this place. Some say that in the forbidden valleys there were the bones of the metal birds, and that maybe the sleeping gods were there too. Shi'anna had to know. Their people needed help. The elders were beginning to kill those who did not agree with them, saying they angered the gods.

It would mean her own death if she were discovered but the young warrior left one night and made the journey into the forbidden valleys... great claws in the jungle where it was told that at the dawn of the world the birds fell. If she could find one of the birds then perhaps she could find the sleeping gods and then the elder's power would be broken....
